4048 O level Elementary Paper 2 possible topics to be tested

1.       Algebra (subject of formula, algebraic fractions, simultaneous equation, linear inequality, indices equation, special products, complete the square)

2.       Finance (percentage, compound interest, hire purchase, commission, foreign exchange, standard form)

3.       Number Pattern

4.       Coordinate Geometry (length formula, gradient, simultaneous equation to find intersection points, find coordinates of parallelogram, trapezium, trigonometric ratio of obtuse angle)

5.       Properties of Circle (may have parallel lines making use of interior angles, alternate angles and corresponding angles, may have congruency proving)

6.       Arc length and sector area (may appear together in one question with properties of circles)

7.       Mensuration (pyramid, prism, sphere, cone, cylinder, 3D diagram, area of polygon, may use TOA CAH SOH, similarity ratios, angle of elevation or depression)

8.       Trigonometry (cosine rule, bearings, angle of elevation and depression)

9.       Congruency proving, may involve parallel lines and ratio of area of triangles

10.    Quadratic Equations: to prove to ax^2+bx+c , could be rates or mensuration question.

11.    Cumulative Frequency curve: could be those that need tabulation of values from cumulative frequency table into grouped frequency table to find SD and mean, make comparison and find probability. Box and whisker plot, stem-and-leaf, dot diagram possible

12.    Probability: Tree diagram, possibility diagram

13.    Real World Question (mensuration: may involve cylinder, sector area and arc length, angle bisector and perpendicular bisector, map scale, bearings, statistics, probability, angles)

Introducing our Primary Math and Science Director, Teacher JZ!

Teacher JZ is our program director for our Primary Math and Science classes. Going full force into full-time tutoring now, he has put together his years of hard work into organized and well-crafted primary math and science notes and worksheets all for our primary students at the Mathify Learning Studio.   

A little background: Teacher JZ graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor degree in Engineering (EEE). He is no stranger to tutoring and his coaching experience started since his Junior college days. He tutored his fellow juniors who eventually graduated with A’s in Mathematics and Physics. During his university days, he not only worked as a part-time tutor as well as assisted his alma mata’s teacher to prepare CA and SA question papers. His passion for teaching did not stop even after graduation as he continued part-time teaching primary and secondary students till today. 

Being a motivational speaker, coupled with a cheerful and lively character, Teacher JZ is always able to deliver fun and interesting classes, capturing attention of the young kids through his laughter-filled and motivating life stories. This makes him a natural-born teacher.

2 weeks of "Zoom" teaching and we are going strong, if not stronger! 😊

Teacher Wendy graduated from the Australia National University with a Bachelor degree in Information Technology. She had also obtained a Diploma in Engineering Informatics and Diploma Plus in Advanced Computing Math from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Going back earlier, Teacher Wendy was educated in China during her young days, where she was rigorously trained in Mathematics, which gave her a solid foundation and deep knowledge in this subject. This gives her a niche advantage where she is able to provide new perspective and alternative methods to learn Math in a fun yet thorough manner. 

Teacher Wendy started teaching since her poly days where she taught students as young as Primary 4, on individual as well as on group basis till today. Although these may be her part-time assignments, she puts in full efforts and great patience in guiding her students. She has a natural affinity with children, and is always more than willing to listen, and give advice to children on their academic woes or personal problems. Her cheerfulness and ability to build rapport and mutual trust among children are her strong character traits which makes her popular among students.

Had a fun time with the Sec Ones last 2 weeks on learning Real Numbers. 😃
