 Here are the possible topics to be tested for AMath paper 2 on 26th October

1. Sketch of quadratic functions and Discriminant

2. Surds --> can be real world context or finding unknowns like a, b --> rationalisation of denominator

3. Binomial theorem --> specific term formula, expansion formula, nCr formula

4. Sketching of power functions, parabola, log graphs, exponential graphs, question involving find another straight line equation to be drawn

5. Logarithm equations and simplifying involving log laws

6. Coordinate Geometry --> midpoint formula, m1m2 =-1, length formula, area formula, find equation of line and simultaneous equation, gradient Involving angle. 

7. Linear Law - plotting of graph, and/or non-graph question finding m and c, solving unknown.

8. Trigonometry graphs, proving involving double angle, R-formula, Trigo in real world context

9. Differentiation: tangent and normal, rate of change, chain rule or product rule of x functions, ln, functions, trigo functions

10. Integration: reverse of differentiation, finding equation of curve, evaluation of definite integral, x function,1/f(x) functions 

11. Simultaneous eqn -- can be problem sum

2020 (4048) O'Level Elementary Math possible topics in Paper 2

Hi 2020 O'level students, Take Note!

Topics that has not been tested that may appear in EMath paper 2:

1. Algebra (simultaneous eqn, linear inequality, Addition & subtraction of Algebraic fraction, special products)

2. Finance (Exchange rate, hire purchase, commission, standard form

3. Coordinate geometry (equation of line, length of line, gradient)

4. Plotting of graph (can be real world graph, pls rem how to explain what does the gradient represent such type of qn eg qn 3 in TYS 2017)

5. Quadratic Equation using quadratic formula /factorisation (topic can be on exchange rate, speed, rate, mensuration)

6. Matrix

7. Mensuration (Prism, cylinder, sphere, cone, pyramid, arc length and sector area -- rem to memorise all formula that are not in formula sheet)

8. Trigonometry (cosine rule, sine rule, bearings and geometrical construction can be linked with bearing)

9. Similarity & Congruency proving of triangles, together with properties of circles

10. Real world context question (can be mensuration, trigo, bearings, sector area, arc length, finance such as CPF, housing, hire purchase, electricity, income tax, matrices)

11. other topics that are not tested yet: speed time, distance time graphs, probability testing on two draws - tree diagram, possibility diagram, polygon, simple interest, standard deviation, dot diagram, box and whisker, histogram
